"I'm told": Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool will hold "talks closer to the end of the season"

Liverpool fans have been keeping a close eye on the future of Mohamed Salah as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Egyptian star has been a standout performer for Liverpool for years, but his recent dip in form, combined with his advancing age, has raised questions about his future at the club.

With Jurgen Klopp stepping down as manager and Arne Slot set to take over, there are expected to be significant changes at Anfield.

What does the future hold for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool?

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation, speaking exclusively to Caught Offside in his latest Daily Briefing column.

He said: “We’re continuing to see a lot of stories into the situation at Liverpool, and I wanted to start by providing an update of my current understanding of the Mohamed Salah situation, following reports yesterday that the feeling now is that he will not be leaving Liverpool this summer.

“I’m told there will be talks closer to the end of the season between Salah and Liverpool to discuss that.

Liverpool want to keep Salah and continue with him also under Arne Slot, that’s why we have strong rumours; it’s clear that they want to continue, Michael Edwards is big fan of the player.”

David Ornstein has already reported for the Athletic that Salah will hold talks with the club when the season ends with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also set for renewal talks.

Keeping Salah is the only choice that makes sense

A surprising number of people have called for Salah to be sold after his touchline antics against West Ham.

That's just stupid.

Yes, he acted childishly but he's a world class player that was on the bench as he watched his side slip out of the Premier League title race with no power to stop it.

Salah has rightfully copped a lot of criticism for the way he acted but suggesting it's grounds to get rid of him is just dumb.

Despite his slump in form since AFCON due to injury, Salah still has 24 goals and 12 assists for Liverpool this season, according to Who Scored.

With Klopp leaving, Arne Slot is going to need the Egyptian to ensure Liverpool are treading level ground next season.
