How many times have Liverpool won the FA Community Shield?

Liverpool are the second-most successful club in the FA Community Shield.

Once known as the FA Charity Shield, it remains as the Premier League's curtain raiser and is played a week before the start of the new season.

However, the trophy doesn't add much glamour to the club's trophy cabinet as it's considered a minor trophy - prevailing consensus is that it doesn't count as a major trophy.

How many times have Liverpool won the FA Community Shield?

Liverpool have lifted the FA Community Shield 16 times. However, they have only won the cup 11 times.

Sounds confusing I'm sure. Let me explain.

In the past, if the game didn't end with a winner, it was shared between the two sides. On five occasions, the Merseysiders have shared the trophy with their opponent.

As one of the most successful English sides of all time, it's no surprise the Reds would have appeared in this fixture a lot over the years.

While they have won the Community Shield 16 times, Liverpool have played in the final 22 times, losing on just five occasions.

Manchester United (21) are the only team with more Community Shield titles.
