Liverpool are keeping a close watch on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid ongoing speculation about his future in Serie A.

The 23-year-old, who has been instrumental in Napoli's recent success, has yet to finalise a contract extension, leading to rumours of a possible exit.

Liverpool, who are set to welcome Arne Slot to the club, are now being linked with a move to sign Kvicha if he rejects contract proposals from Napoli.

Liverpool's interest in Kvaratskhelia

Last month, Italian journalist Ciro Venerato reported that Liverpool were interested in Kvaratskhelia, hinting at the Reds' potential plans to strengthen their attacking options.

He said: “Kvara’s renewal, at the moment, is still on the high seas: the player wants a raise, which is delaying its arrival, but he will not leave Napoli, with De Laurentiis proposing a mega salary to postpone his transfer to 2025.

"A release clause could also be inserted for him, as happened with Osimhen. The number 77 is followed by big clubs, such as Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool and PSG.”

This week, journalist Bacho Tsalugelashvili, who works for Georgia’s Gazzetta dello Sport, confirmed Liverpool's continued interest, stating that they are in the picture to sign the Georgian star.

But only if talks break down with club president De Laurentiis.

In comments reported by Area Napoli, the journalist said: “Is Kvaratskhelia’s agent talking to De Laurentiis? I believe the agent will meet the president next week.

"However, either the contract renewal will materialise or Kvara will go to a top club. I don’t know if it is Barcelona or another team.

“Could it be a Premier League club? I don’t know. Liverpool are also interested in Kvaratskhelia, although Barcelona’s interest is more concrete. There are management sources who confirm the Blaugrana’s desire.”

Kvaratskhelia's Impact and Valuation

Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli from Dinamo Batumi in 2022 and made an immediate impact, helping the club win the Serie A title in his debut season.

With 14 goals and 17 assists last season, and 10 goals and nine assists this season, Kvaratskhelia has shown his quality and versatility. Despite Napoli's recent struggles, he remains a key player for the club.

If Liverpool wants to secure Kvaratskhelia's services, they will need to be prepared for a significant financial outlay. Tsalugelashvili suggests that Napoli could demand between €100m and €120m for the winger.

This would mean an outlay of between £85M and £102M would need to be sanctioned by FSG.

“What’s Kvara’s will? I don’t know. However, I would advise the player to leave a club in crisis like Napoli to join a top club in La Liga or the Premier League,” Tsalugelashvili explained.

“What could be the amount for which De Laurentiis would deprive himself of Kvaratskhelia? I can’t say precisely, but I understand a valuation between €100m and €120m,” he added.

With Liverpool known for their astute transfer strategy, it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to meet such a valuation.

Liverpool's attacking options and the future

Mohamed Salah will be at Liverpool next season after David Ornstein confirmed contract talks will be held with Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Despite that, Kvaratshkelia would be an incredible signing although he would likely displace Luis Diaz from the left flank.

Kvaratskhelia's creativity, speed, and goal-scoring ability make him a very attractive signing.

However, any deal with Napoli would require Liverpool to navigate the high asking price and competition from other top clubs.

For now, Liverpool will continue to monitor the situation as Kvaratskhelia's contract talks with Napoli unfold.

If he does not sign a new deal, Liverpool could have a chance to secure a player who could play a significant role in the club's new era under Arne Slot.
